Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 24 April 2026
Recovery Disability Services is committed to making our website and services accessible to everyone — including people with disability, older people, and users of assistive technology.
1. Our commitment
As a specialist disability services provider, we believe that accessibility is not optional — it is the baseline. We are committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability, device, or assistive technology.
2. The standard we aim for
This website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 AA is the accessibility standard referenced by the Australian Human Rights Commission and widely adopted across Australian government and disability-services websites.
3. What we have done
We have designed and built this website with accessibility in mind:
- Semantic HTML structure so assistive technologies (screen readers, voice control) can navigate the page
- Sufficient colour contrast between text and background across all content areas
- Keyboard-accessible navigation — you do not need a mouse to move through the site
- Descriptive text for all interactive elements and meaningful images
- Readable typography at a minimum of 16 pixels, with scalable font sizes
- Responsive design that works on mobile phones, tablets, and desktop computers
- Forms with clear labels, error messages, and focus states
4. Known limitations
We are continuously improving accessibility. At the time of publication, we are aware of the following areas we are working on:
- Some photographic imagery used decoratively does not have detailed alternative text — this is intentional where the image is not the primary source of information
- Third-party embeds (e.g. PDF capability statement) may have their own accessibility limitations that we do not control directly
- We are working toward providing Easy Read versions of key content — please contact us if you need this now
5. Alternative formats
If you need any information from this website in a different format — such as large print, Easy Read, audio, or a captioned video — please get in touch. We will arrange it as quickly as possible at no cost to you.
6. Assistive technology we support
This website is designed to work with common assistive technologies including:
- Screen readers — NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), TalkBack (Android)
- Screen magnifiers — ZoomText, macOS Zoom
- Speech recognition software — Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Voice Control
- Keyboard-only navigation
7. Tell us if something is broken
If you encounter a page, feature, or piece of content on this website that is difficult or impossible to use, please tell us. We take accessibility issues seriously and will prioritise fixes. When you contact us, please describe:
- The page URL where you had trouble
- What you were trying to do
- What went wrong
- The device, browser, or assistive technology you were using (if you are comfortable sharing)
8. Contact us
You can reach us about accessibility issues (or anything else) by phone, email, or through our contact form. Phone is often the fastest route — 02 7233 4745 during business hours. We will acknowledge accessibility feedback within two business days.
9. Our office
Our head office is accessible. If you are planning to visit, please call ahead so we can arrange parking, step-free access, or any other reasonable adjustments you may need.
