SIL is the day-to-day support that makes independent living possible. It's not about replacing your choices with ours — it's about making sure the right person is there at the right moment, doing exactly what you need, the way you want it done.

What is SIL?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is NDIS-funded support for help with and supervision of daily tasks. It's delivered in your home — whether that's an SDA property, a shared home, a family home, or your own place — and can range from a few hours a week to round-the-clock support. SIL does not pay for rent, utilities, or groceries. It pays for people.

SIL funding levels

The NDIS funds SIL based on the level of support you need. Your plan will usually fall into one of three levels:

  • Lower-needs SIL — occasional prompts, check-ins, or help with specific tasks
  • Standard SIL — regular daily support across personal care, meal prep, household tasks, and community access
  • Higher-needs SIL — 24/7 active support, often two-to-one in certain parts of the day, for participants with very high or complex needs
Who it's for

SIL suits participants who want to live as independently as possible, with the right support in the background.

  • You want to move out of the family home, aged care, or hospital into your own space
  • You live alone or share with housemates and need regular daily support
  • You need overnight active or sleepover support for safety and peace of mind
  • You have complex needs requiring experienced, consistently trained workers
  • You want a team that actually knows you — not a revolving door of strangers
  • Your NDIS plan includes funding for "Assistance with Daily Life"
What Recovery provides

A team that learns you — and stays.

01

Consistent staff allocation — we roster the same core team to your home wherever possible, so you're not re-explaining yourself every shift.

02

Shift patterns that match your life — 24/7 active, sleepover, wake, drop-in, or any combination your plan supports.

03

Personal care, meal preparation, medication prompts, domestic assistance, and daily living skill-building.

04

Behaviour support plan (BSP) implementation, with staff trained in positive behaviour support and your specific strategies.

05

Community access integration — the same team that supports you at home can take you out, reducing transition friction.

06

Clear communication — progress notes, incident reporting, and participant-facing updates the way you want to receive them.

07

Regular service reviews and goal check-ins — your supports adjust as you grow, not when the plan expires.

Frequently asked

Questions we hear most.

Will I have the same support workers every day? +

We aim for a small, consistent core team — usually 4–6 workers who know your routine, your preferences, and your plan. Complete same-person rostering isn't realistic for 24/7 support, but you won't be meeting a new face every shift.

What if a staff member isn't the right fit? +

You have a say. If someone isn't working for you, we'll rotate them off your home and match you with someone better suited. Choice and control aren't a slogan — they're how we run.

Do I have to live in one of your SDA homes to get your SIL support? +

No. We deliver SIL in any setting — SDA, private rental, family home, or your own home. Wherever you live, we come to you.

How do I start? +

Request a call back. We'll arrange a no-pressure conversation to understand your goals and plan, meet you in person or virtually, and build a proposed roster before you commit to anything.
